Besides its software products, oreas also provides consulting services and development of customized solutions in the area of graph drawing and operations research. In many cases, standard graph drawing methods do not meet the requirements posed by practical diagram layout problems. Modifications or the development of completely new approaches are necessary. oreas provides its customers advice on the choice of a layout method and develops diagram layout algorithms that meet customers requirements.
The services offered by oreas range from problem analysis to the realisation of a solution:
- Analysis of the layout problem with the customer, that is drawing up a mathematical model of the problem describing the required input of the layout method and the conditions the produced layout must meet. Analysis of further requirements such as running time and quality of the solution.
- Selection of a suitable layout method. At first, standard procedures are examined with respect to applicablity (either directly or with some modifications).
- Adaption of a standard method or development of a new method if no simple solution based on a standard procedure is possible
- Implementation of the selected layout method. If desired, also integration
into the client application.
