OREAS 151b is one of three (second generation) porphyry Cu-Au certified reference materials (CRMs). It has been prepared from copper ore drilling reject material from 27 drill holes from the Waisoi district, Viti Levu, Fiji, with the addition of a minor quantity of Cu concentrate (0.1%) and barren granodiorite (10%). The two deposits in the Waisoi district are the Waisoi East deposit (quartz porphyry) and the Waisoi West deposit (diorite porphyry). Copper mineralisation in the region is accompanied by stockwork quartz veinlets and is characterised by bornite-chalcopyrite-pyrite assemblages formed under a high sulphidation environment.
