OREAS 307

OREAS 307 has been prepared from a blend of barren black slate and Zn-Pb-Ag ore and concentrate materials sourced from Mount Isa in north-west Queensland, Australia, together with Pb-Zn-Ag sulphide ore from the Elura deposit in New South Wales, Australia.

The Mount Isa Zn-Pb-Ag mineralisation is of sediment-hosted SEDEX type and comprises sphalerite and galena with pyrite and pyrrhotite. The orebodies are hosted within the Urquhart Shale Formation of the Mount Isa Group and are concordant with carbonaceous dolomitic sediments.

OREAS 307 has been characterized using the following methods:

  • Major elements by oxidising fusion with XRF finish including Loss on Ignition (LOI) at 1000 °C
  • Lithium borate or sodium peroxide fusion with full suite elemental package by ICP-OES and/or MS finish
  • Full ICP-OES and ICP-MS elemental suites by 4-acid (HNO3-HF-HClO4-HCl) digestion
  • Full ICP-OES and ICP-MS elemental suites by aqua regia digestion
  • Total C and S by infrared combustion furnace

Certified values for applicable analytes are operationally defined for each method, with results under OREAS ISO 17034 scope of accreditation.
