OREAS 663 was prepared from a blend of copper-nickel-PGE bearing sulphide ores sourced from the Sudbury district, Ontario, Canada, and barren gabbronorite. Nickel sulphide ore from Leinster, Western Australia, was also added to achieve the desired grades.
Copper-nickel-PGE mineralisation in the Sudbury district is associated with the Sudbury Igneous Complex and its surrounding footwall rocks. The principal sulphide minerals are pyrrhotite, pentlandite and chalcopyrite.
OREAS 663 has been characterized using the following methods:
Certified values for applicable analytes are operationally defined for each method, with results under OREAS ISO 17034 scope of accreditation.
