OREAS 143 is a low grade Sn ore certified reference material (CRM) prepared by Ore Research & Exploration. The material was sourced from the Renison Bell Tin Mine in western Tasmania, one of the world’s major carbonate-replacement tin deposits. The host rocks comprise dolomitic and siliciclastic sediments within the Renison Mine Sequence, altered by hydrothermal fluids related to the Pine Hill Granite intrusion. Compositionally, the CRM blend is dominated by hornfels and granite, with contributions from cassiterite-rich ore and minor carbonate material. Tin mineralisation occurs as cassiterite (SnO₂), with low levels of associated sulphides including arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite.
OREAS 143 has been characterised for Sn, S, As, Cu and other elements using the following methods:
Certified values for applicable analytes are operationally defined for each method, with results under OREAS ISO 17034 scope of accreditation.
