OREAS 161b

OREAS 161b is a low grade copper ore certified reference material (CRM) prepared and certified by Ore Research & Exploration Pth Ltd. The material was sourced from Xstrata’s Mt Isa copper ore deposits located near the township of Mt Isa in north-west Queensland. The ore deposits are hosted by brecciated siliceous and dolomitic rock masses within the Urquhart Shale comprising complex and dissociated veins with chalcopyrite, pyrite and pyrrhotite with grades of 3-4% copper.

OREAS 161b has been characterized using the following methods:

  • Major elements by borate/ oxidising fusion with XRF finish
  • LOI at 1000 °C using a muffle furnace or thermogravimetric analyser (TGA)
  • Full ICP-OES and MS elemental suites by peroxide fusion
  • Full ICP-OES and MS elemental suites by 4-acid (HCl-HNO3-HF-HClO4) digestion
  • Full ICP-OES and MS elemental suites by aqua regia digestion
  • Total C and Total S by infrared combustion furnace

Certified values for applicable analytes are operationally defined for each method, with results under OREAS ISO 17034 scope of accreditation.

Note: Analyte values are indicative only and may change when certified.
